The invention of barbed wire
In 1867,American Joseph Glidden was granted a patent for inventing Best Selling Barbed Wire.Speaking of Widely Use Barbed Wire, this invention was the result of a "lazy" experience related to Joseph's experience as a shepherd boy on a ranch in California. At that time, Joseph often read a book while herding sheep;when he was immersed in reading, the animals often knocked down the grazing fences surrounded by wooden stakes and wires, and ran to the nearby fields in groups to steal crops. The rancher was very angry about this and threatened to fire him.
After observation,Joseph found that sheep rarely cross the rose wall covered with thorns. So,a lazy idea came to mind:Why not use thin wire to make a barbed net?He cut the thin wire into 5 cm long pieces, then wrapped them around the wire fence, and cut the ends of the thin wire into spikes. Now the sheep who wanted to steal the crops had to "look at the net and sigh",and Joseph no longer had to worry about being fired by the rancher.Because his invention was quickly favored by business-minded ranchers and he opened a factory to produce this new Best Selling Barbed Wire to meet the needs of other ranches; The Widely Use Barbed Wire booming.
A prominent economist considered Nice Quality Barbed Wire"one of seven patents that changed the face of the world."Best Selling Barbed Wire played a role in clarifying property rights during the development of the western frontier of the United States.Widely Use Barbed Wire is this barbed wire that allows ranchers to distinguish their pastures from those of others. Because barbed wire is easy to produce, easy to install, and cheap,it can effectively isolate livestock and reduce the probability of personal property being stolen。Today, on the grasslands of Australia, you can still see squares of barbed wire left by the colonists when they came here to expand their territories more than a hundred years ago.
